Meet The Golf Pro
Vince Santo Pietro
Head Golf Professional
La Cañada Flintridge Country Club is pleased to welcome new PGA Head Pro, Vince Santo Pietro
Vince comes to us from Seven Oaks Country Club in Bakersfield, but has a long history in Southern California.
Originally from Covina, Vince discovered his love for golf as a youngster. He’d look forward to weekends and waking at 6 AM to ride his bike, golf clubs across the handlebars, to the elementary school grounds to join his friends in improvised longest ball competitions. Although his parents didn’t play the game, his Scots grandmother had played St. Andrews as a child, and he made his grandmother proud. Vince graduated to public courses and soon realized his passion for golf couldn’t lead anywhere but to a career in the business.
A career highlight among many was his chance to learn from John Anselmo, Tiger Woods’ PGA Pro from ages 10-18. John not only recognized Tiger’s gifts early, telling Vince, “This kid is special. You know what everyone talks about is distance, but you know what I see? The kid’s got a mature short game. His putting and chipping are polished.” Vince enjoyed watching John teaching Tiger – Hogan’s 5 Lessons paperback always in his back pocket — and even more, credits Anselmo and another Pro, Ray Oaks, with generously teaching him the ins and outs of the golf business when he undertook a management training program apprenticeship with American Golf Corporation.
Vince went on to spend 17 years as 1st Assistant Golf Pro and Tournament Director at Friendly Hills Country Club. Later, as a PGA Pro, he was District Golf expert for 11 Dick’s Sporting Goods stores in Southern California, before joining Bermuda Dunes Country Club and later, Seven Oaks, as Head Pro.
As a golf instructor, Vince has extensive experience with lessons and clinics, and was awarded a national Golf Club fitter of the Year Award by Ping Golf. His mantra? “Square off. Hit the ball straight and things will fall in line.”

I was introduced to golf at a very young age, but it was not until I was about 12 that I started to take my game seriously. I grew up with my dad being an avid golfer and was very fortunate to have him by my side teaching me the game I love today. I spent all my time practicing on the range at Vista Valencia or playing the par 3 course from sunrise to sunset.
I played junior golf tournaments and varsity golf in high school before working as a veterinary technician. I’ve been working at La Canada Country Club for 2 years now and you’ll often find me on the golf course or practice areas.
A hidden gem in La Canada Flintridge! Invited as a guest to play at the course and I have to say I’m so impressed with the views, layout, upkeep, and the challenge of the course! I share the sentiment of one of the posters that our guide/golf pro Scott was super accommodating and so insightful! If you get a chance to play with him, you’ll marvel at the ease in which he plays; it kind of makes you want to take the time to get better. And if paying a membership allows me access to use the course daily, take a swim in the pool, play tennis, and just relax, then by all means! I was also very impressed with the staff; they were very professional and friendly!

I’m just a beginning golfer, so the no-score, no-stress tournament was just that… a lot of fun for both of us! We really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to the next one.

Speed of play for 9 holes can be 1 hour and for 18, is usually fewer than 3 – 3 1/2 hours. LCFCC golfers almost never experience a wait or problem getting their tee times. Tournaments for the Scratch Golfer and the Beginner Golfer
From the Men’s Golf Association’s annual Canyon Classic member-guest tournament to the Women’s Golf Association’s monthly themed tournaments, to the Oktoberfest Beer and Golf Relaxed Tournament, to the beginners, no handicap required tournaments, LCFCC’s Golf Department’s programs delight and challenge.
Men’s Golf Association
The MGA is a self-organized group within LCFCC and has a Board of Directors. The MGA handles the monitoring of handicaps, posting of scores, organizes men’ tournaments, etc., to ensure fairness of play as specified by the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA).
Women’s Golf Association
The WGA assists in monitoring handicaps via the Women’s Southern California Golf Association (WSCGA) and organizes women’s tournaments and events throughout the year. The women’s motto is “Through the spirit of enthusiasm and cooperation, we will have the opportunity to meet new friends, improve our game and encourage good sportsmanship.”
Golf U: Innovative Beginner Golf Program
Periodic complimentary instruction to familiarize our members with the wonderful benefits of golf membership at La Cañada Flintridge Country Club. Our Golf Professionals give a comprehensive overview of the game in weekly clinics such as chipping, full swing, putting, course navigation and management, etiquette, and ladies’ day. Combined with our Family Fun Golf Clinics, these programs offer a pathway to the enjoyment of the great game of golf.
Golf Etiquette, Rules, and Course Knowledge Clinics
In keeping with our philosophy of making sure the great game of golf is always growing, these complimentary clinics offer all membership types the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of golf course etiquette, a review of common rules, and a chance to learn about course-specific good practices.

Following some of our famous Sunday Brunches, the club often offers 1-hour family-oriented golf clinics as a great opportunity for all or part of the family to learn or brush up on their golf game.
