Game, Set, Match! Tennis Membership at La Canada
LCFCC tennis memberships allow access to the club’s first-class tennis facilities and professional instruction, as well as exciting social events, such as tennis mixers and club championships. The panoramic views from our six night-lighted courts are unparalleled and offer a tranquil setting for LCFCC tennis members.
The adult tennis programming at LCFCC is designed to give adult members a wide variety of possibilities. At its core, we want every member to feel that the courts are in their back yard: when you want to play a match with friends or have a family fun day playing tennis, we want you to have the ability to get a court.
If you are interested in a more instruction-based tennis experience, we offer a wide variety of clinics for players of all levels, as well as individual and private lessons. For the more competitive player, we have Live Ball clinics 3 days per week that are also social, but the emphasis is on fast-paced and competitive point play. Finally, for the player looking for a more recreational or social tennis experience, we frequently offer round robin play and mixed doubles and doubles socials throughout the year.
Two courts have stadium seating for tournaments and exhibitions and the tennis department is lead by USPTA Head Professional, James Panagopoulos. He and his team of passionate and experienced tennis pros offer a full range of lessons and individual clinics, camps, USTA teams, and an active calendar of mixed doubles events. Whether you are a competitive player, or an occasional player, youngster or senior citizen, or looking to dust off your old racket, the LCFCC tennis program is a great match, you’re sure to love.
Tennis Director and Head Pro
More About James
James Panagopoulos has been our Tennis Director and Head Pro at LCFCC since August 2010. Before arriving at LCF Country Club, James had been training top-level juniors, pros, and recreational players in Southern California since 1997.
After graduating from the University of South Carolina in 1995, he played on the ATP professional tour where he achieved a world ranking both in singles and in doubles. That tennis experience, along with being an internationally top ranked junior player, NCAA Div. 1 Tennis Scholarship athlete, and a Greek Davis Cup Team Member, has given James a passion for the game of tennis.
James quickly realized that after competing at such high levels of the sport, his talents as a trainer, coach, and motivator would become a way for him to stay involved in the game he has played and loved for over 30 years.
James has helped LCFCC create a dynamic and comprehensive tennis program for members of all ages, and encourages everyone to get back to the courts and connect with one of life’s greatest past-times.
“Tennis is a sport that people of all ages can enjoy well into the later years of their lives and promotes health and well being both physically and mentally,” he says.
James can help you find the best class, clinic, Pro, camp, or group to get you or kids involved.
USTA Jr. Team Tennis
More About Stan
Stan is the Director of USTA Jr. Team Tennis for LCFCC. We are in the Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley division. Stan teaches private lessons, groups, clinics and leads the Jr. team tennis program.
He is in his third year on the court here at LCFCC specializing in teaching the fundamentals of the tennis game. Stan’s method is to give the student the tools needed to be an athlete who plays and enjoys tennis. These tools will allow the player to reach any level of the game they desire.
Stan has been teaching for more than 17 years as a second career. He played tennis all his life after being inspired by his father. He was encouraged to become a tennis teacher with support from his family, and by experiencing the joy of helping players develop and grow in the sport. Nothing sharpens your mind like a question from a 7-year-old.
Training included lots of books, help from industry professionals as mentors, and many hours of on-court experience. Stan is in his 15th year in the USPTA, PTR, and has been on the board of the California Division USPTA since the mid-2000s. He currently works on the USPTA Annual Division Convention and monthly educational sessions with other teaching professionals.
