Proud to be Celebrating 0ver 50 Years! ~ 1962-2012 ~
1962 was a banner year for new Los Angeles landmarks: the Los Angeles Dodgers moved into their new stadium home at Chavez Ravine, Paul Williams’ space-age Theme Building opened its doors at Los Angeles International Airport, and golf balls were first teed off from La Cañada Flintridge Country Club’s magnificently scenic golf course overlooking the San Gabriel Valley.
Architect Jack Simison, 1962
The vision of developer Bill Godbey of the Angeles Crest Development Company, SCGA legend Johnny Dawson, and golf course architect Lawrence Hughes, the golf course was originally surrounded by the modern Country Club Estates home development, and was irrigated by its own water reclamation plant. Jack Simison’s classic mid-century modern clubhouse building was featured in Architectural Digest in 1964.
1962 Top of the Tee
The construction of the Club atop the Gould Mesa required moving nearly two million cubic yards of dirt, an unprecedented engineering accomplishment at the time. Today, LCFCC remains as a testament to the original developers offering a casual family friendly country club with one-of-a-kind views for our members and guests.
